The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Dhaka is looking to fill a temporary vacancy in its Cultural Section for a Cultural & Education Officer. This full-time position (38 hours/week) is available 01.01.2021 – 31.12.2021 as a temporary re-placement of a local colleague.

Payment is subject to the Embassy's salary scale.

Tasks of the Cultural & Education Officer:

- Liaise with universities, ministries, government and semi-governmental au-thorities and private as well as public educational and cultural institutions

- Help establish formal university cooperation of German and Bangladeshi universities

- Organize cultural events and manage the German Embassy’s cultural fund

- Draft, upload and manage content of the German Embassy on the Embassy’s website and facebook page

- Prepare & conduct info sessions on studying in Germany together with the DAAD

- Prepare & conduct selection processes and interviews for various scholarship schemes

- Draft reports for the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin on culture and education in Bangladesh

- Set up & maintain a detailed data base on the overall education system in Bangladesh and individual institutions of secondary and tertiary education

- Identify suitable candidates for the Visitors‘ Program of the Federal Government

- Prepare & accompany official visits to cultural & education-related events / in-stitutions

- Support representatives of German cultural, religious and education-related organizations in Bangladesh, those settled in the country as well as visitors

- Support & assist applications for the Fund for Cultural Preservation

- Support & assist mutual, cultural / education-related projects of the European Member States’ Missions in Bangladesh and cultural Franco-German projects

Candidates should fulfill the following requirements:

o Bachelor’s or higher degree, preferably in a humanities subject

o Excellent proficiency in English, preferably proven via an internationally rec-ognized certificate (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS)

o Excellent proficiency in Bengali

o Knowledge of German: Not compulsory, but an asset and to be compensated financially

o Ability to work effectively under pressure while seeing to a wide range of dif-ferent tasks

o Ability to work independently and creatively and to take initiative

o Strong computer skillset, in particular with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

o Strong abilities in interpersonal communication, presenting content, layout / design and report-writing

- Curriculum vitae (CV) with one recent passport size photograph (no longer than two A4 pages)

- Copies of academic certificates of the highest degree awarded and proof of other qualifications relevant for this position (in particular language proficiency certificates)

- Proof of earlier employment(s)

- One recommendation letter no longer than one A4 page
