FAQ

Unfortunately, the embassy cannot give you an exact information. We try to process as many family-reunion visas as possible.

Yes, everyone has to register themselves in the waitlist.

Registrations from the old waiting list will be exported to the Consular Services Portal in due time. There will be an e-mail with additional information. You may then add your child to your application in the Consular Services Portal.

If you already used the Consular Service Portal, you may add the application for your child within a group application.

You can bring your child to the appointment without further notice. But please keep in mind that you need to provide all the required documents.

Please contact the visa section so that we can allocate an appointment. But please keep in mind that you need to provide all the required documents.

Yes, but you have to register yourself in the waiting list for family reunion. We cannot make exemptions for weddings.

If you intend to marry your partner in Germany, you must first obtain a certificate of marriageability (“Anmeldung zur Eheschließung”) issued by the competent German Civil Registrar. The certificate must state that a date for the intended marriage has been scheduled.

Yes, all applicants must be present no matter how old they are.

Yes, it is mandatory to submit an A1 certificate with your application for a family reunion with a German national.

In general, we only accept certificates from Goethe Institute because there are no other language schools in Bangladesh that provide credible certificates.

Provided that you passed the exam with another school not online but in person and the school has an ALTE certificate. We could also accept those certificates.

Minors under the age of 16 applying for a family reunion visa do not have to submit a German language certificate.

Children 16 or older, who are not resettling together with both parents (or with one parent in case of single custody) at the same time, must submit a C1 certificate. There are some exemptions for this requirement.

The same documents are required for parental reunification as for family reunification as you have to establish your relationship except A1 level German.

Please note that it is a requirement that your visa or residence permit for gainful purposes was issued for the first time after 1 March 2024.

Please be aware that there is a waiting list for family reunion. You can find more information on our website. Expedited appointments are not possible.
