Certification / Notarization
For legal transactions with far-reaching consequences (e.g. acknowledgement of paternity, application for a certificate of inheritance or European Certificate of Succession), German law requires the stricter form of notarization / certification instead of simple signature authentication
Please contact the German embassy by e-mail to prepare the document and arrange an appointment.
Please note that an authorized person is not always available at the embassy for every kind of notarization, so that some notarizations cannot be carried out in Dhaka.
Authentication of signatures
German diplomatic missions abroad can certify signatures, i.e. confirm the identity of the signatory and the authenticity of their signature on a document. This requires a personal appearance and presentation of a photo ID (e.g. passport). The signature must be executed or acknowledged before the consular officer.
The fee is 56,43 euros, or 79,57 euros for matters relating to name law.
Authentication of photocopies
The German diplomatic missions abroad can certify that photocopies match the original/certified copy of a document if this is necessary for submission to a German authority. The authenticity of the content of the document is not verified.
The fee for the certification of copies is 23,22 euros.
Attestation
The representations can only issue certificates on matters of which they are officially aware. The fee depends on whether it is issued on a form or on the basis of a template (34,07 EURO) or whether a text must be prepared in addition to the certificate (70,33 EURO).
Appointments can be booked by e-mail.
