Effective immediately, a new family reunion visa application process is in place within the Consular Service Portal.

What is happening?

• The family reunion visa process is digitalized through the use of the Consular Services Portal for newly registering applicants

• A new waiting list is opened in the Consular Service Portal.

• The waiting list in the old appointment system is closed effective immediately

What is changing with the Consular Services Portal?

• All documents are uploaded online in the moment of registration.

• The Embassy pre-verifies all provided documents.

What is happening with the registrations on the old waiting list?

• The old wait list will not be deleted.

• The old waiting list will be processed completely before the Embassy starts handling the new registrations from the Consular Services Portal. Those already registered in the old list do not have to register in the new system.

• For processing the old waiting list, the Embassy will use the same system as always: document submission mail by the Embassy;

• Family reunion applicants applying together with a skilled worker, who is applying for an employment visa at the same time, will be processed after registration in the Consular Service Portal together with their spouse’s application. It is possible to apply together within the same account.

Will the waiting time be reduced?

A reduction in waiting time cannot be expected, unfortunately. The number of Family reunion visa applications increased in the last years. The long and still increasing waiting time is a result of the sheer number of applicants.
